Article on AI-assisted legal interpretation by Nicole Hon published in Hong Kong Lawyer

Robertsons’ Associate, Nicole Hon, has recently co-written with Kwan Yuen IU from Albert Luk’s Chambers an article entitled “First Common Law Judgment with AI-Assisted Legal Interpretation: James Snell vs. United Specialty Insurance Co” and published in Hong Kong Lawyer.
The article concerns the groundbreaking US decision where AI – and Large Language Models (LLMs) in particular – was used to interpret the ordinary meaning of a word critical to the judgement.
The article also analyses the judge’s discussions on the benefits and risks of using AI for such purposes and the potential implication for lawyers.
