Robertsons has been proud to serve as a major Hong-Kong-based wholly independent full-service law firm.

Robertsons was founded in 1980 in Hong Kong. In 2003, we launched our representative office in Guangzhou.

For more than four decades, Robertsons has been proud to serve as a major Hong-Kong-based wholly independent full-service law firm. With a team of 100 personnel, Robertsons maintains the capacity to manage a high volume of deal work and has the in-house capability to advise on complex transactions domestically, while frequently assisting on regional and international cross-border transactions, and remaining active in the GBA and mainland China.

We have grown with many of our corporate and individual clients, firmly believe in working with our clients and developing our legal services to best meet their needs.

Robertsons continues to thrive in its fifth decade in Hong Kong, guided by our core values of integrity, professionalism, and client-centric service.

Our Philosophy

Our firm’s philosophy is that no two clients are the same and that it is vital to understand the clients business and requirements so that our advice and services are best tailored to suit the client’s needs.

Our Costs

We believe in operating a transparent costs system so that clients will not be surprised by large invoices. For non contentious work we are pleased to discuss fixed fees and for contentious work, we offer options such as blended rates, budgets and more frequent invoicing so that clients can keep regularly appraised of their costs exposure.

We do not charge ”mark ups” and the size of any team working on a client matter will depend on the requirements of the client and not those of our firm.

1980

The firm is setup by its three founding partners in Hong Kong.

1985

The firm moves to Printing House in Duddell Street, its home for the next fifteen years.

1995

The firm merges with Lee Ng & Lam to become Robertson Double & Lee, operating from both Printing House and Tesbury Centre.

2000

The firm moves to a single office at 57th floor of The Centre, a new Cheung Kong development with sweeping views over Hong Kong Harbour. This has been our home ever since.

The firm’s name becomes Robertsons.

2003

Robertsons launches its Guangzhou representative office.

2005

25th Anniversary party of Robertsons celebrated at the newly-opened Four Seasons Hotel in Hong Kong

The firm also launches its capital markets practice, which has since grown to one of the firm’s major departments.

2020

Robertsons has now been operating for 40 years and has grown from a very small practice to a multi-disciplinary firm of more than 100 people operating from our offices in Hong Kong and Guangzhou.

Robertsons maintains its status as a leading independent Hong Kong law firm with its award-winning team, having received over 40 awards and recognition in a year. The honours come from industry-renowned organisations, such as Asian Legal Business, Benchmark Litigation, China Business Law Journal, the Doyle’s Guide, and Lexology Index.
