Michael Lintern-Smith’s Seminar on Latest Regulatory Developments Arising from the Anti-Money Laundering Amendment Ordinance
Robertsons co-organised with the Association of Corporate Counsel last week a seminar with our Consultant Michael Lintern-Smith as the speaker, who is currently chairing the Law Society of Hong Kong’s Anti-Money Laundering Committee.
The seminar focused on the latest amendments enacted by the government in relation to implementing its stringent Anti-Money Laundering policy dictated by Financial Action Task Force which embodied several changes involving Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions. As a result of changes to the Ordinance which came into force on 1st June 2023, the Law Society now has power of inspection of its members and firms in relation to their implementation of the requirements of Practice Direction P regarding Client Due Diligence requirements.
Michael Lintern-Smith discussed with participants on those changes and requirements as far as they pertain to law firms and to in-house lawyers.
