Michael Lintern-Smith is the Senior Partner of Robertsons. He joined the firm in 1981. As well as practising as a solicitor for 35 years in Hong Kong, he is also a Notary Public.
He has established a wide following of multinational clients having practised in litigation, commercial law and China Investment projects.
He is a former president of the Law Society of Hong Kong. He remains a member of the governing Council of the Law Society which is the regulatory body for solicitors in Hong Kong. He is a past member of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission which is responsible for making recommendations to the Chief Executive on the appointment and promotion of judges. He was previously on the High Court Rules Committee and Court of Final Appeal Rules Committee.
Michael is also Chairman of the Buildings Appeal Tribunal and Clerk of the Disciplinary Committee of the Hong Kong Confederation of Insurance Brokers. He is the Deputy Convenor of the Disciplinary Tribunal of the Hong Kong Society of Notaries.
A regular speaker at legal conferences on the subject of China related business, legal ethics and Anti-Money Laundering, Michael is a very active member of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce where he was Chairman of the European Committee. Also, he is also active within the International Bar Association, LawAsia and the Commonwealth Law Association.
