On 22nd November 2024, Michael Lintern-Smith, Robertsons’ Consultant and Full Fellow of the Hong Kong Chartered Governance Institute, spoke at the Institute’s 5th AML/CFT Conference themed “AML/CFT Regulations, Topical Issues and Practical Sharing”. 

During the conference which was attended by over 380 delegates, he addressed the increasing complexities and developments in regulatory frameworks across key jurisdictions, covering Hong Kong – where regulatory expansion is a major trend –, Australia, Singapore, and mainland China. 

His speech concluded with the challenges of implementing AML/CFT measures, and the crucial need for striking a right balance between professional confidentiality and compliance.
